Mildmay is a ward of Islington,a Borough in northern London. This area, like many in the city, has witnessed many changes in the past few years, with gentrification bein the main cause of friction among residents.

WHAT’S GOING ON?
Mildmay has recently become a preferential target for real estate investment, and it has seen a rapid increase in the number of affluent peope decidig to move in the ward.
The new inbalance between housing supply and demand has broght many long-term residents to feel frustrated and powerless, as they see they community ties to undergo disruption signs, as financial difficulties are splitting apart those family that can’t keep up with the rent increase.
Furthermore, the disadvantaged condition of already vulnerable people is getting deeper.
The Comensi project lead to the cration of a local Atlas thanks to the cooperation of our local partner Mapping for Change with the Mildmay Community Partnership. The Atlas aims to collect local memories to celebrate the community’s past, encourage a sense of belonging in the present and empower disadvantaged residents to have a role in its future.
